'Dougie' rapper M-Bone dies in drive-by

Los Angeles (CNN) -- Rapper M-Bone of the group Cali Swag District died Sunday night in what police said was a drive-by shooting in his hometown, Inglewood, California.


M-Bone, whose real name was Montae Talbert, was sitting in a car in the 400 block of North LaBrea Avenue when a car pulled up next to his and someone fired two rounds that struck the rapper in his head, Inglewood Police Lt. Steve Overly said Monday.

Talbert, 22, died later at a hospital, Overly said.

Preliminary reports on the model of car that was involved have not been confirmed, he said.

Cali Swag District's biggest hip-hop hit came in 2010 with the song "Teach Me How to Dougie."

Greg Miller, the rap group's representative, said Talbert was "the victim of a random act of violence."

The rapper "was an inspiration to his family, friends and fans," Miller said. "He was a hardworking, passionate artist and dancer who will be sorely missed."

Rare fungal infection strikes Joplin, Missouri, tornado victims

(CNN) -- Eight people injured by the devastating Joplin, Missouri, tornado have contracted a rare fungal infection, and three have died, officials said Friday. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is assisting state and local health officials, who are investigating the cases. All three individuals who died had serious injuries, as well as fungus, Jasper County Coroner Rob Chappel said. One of the deaths was caused by the infection, called mucormycosis, but the cause of death for the other two victims has not been determined, he said. All eight patients sustained multiple injuries and secondary wound infections, according to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. The infection can occur when dirt, vegetation or other material becomes lodged under the skin. The death toll from the May tornado stood at 151 on Friday. After Amber Alert, Kentucky teen charged in killings

EDMONTON, Ky. — Police who issued an Amber Alert for a 15-year-old, fearing he might be in danger after his guardians were found dead in their home, instead charged him Wednesday with murder in their killings. The alert was issued Tuesday after a relative found the bodies of 50-year-old Gary Holloway and 51-year-old Barbara Holloway at their home near Edmonton, a rural area dotted with dairy farms more than 100 miles south of Louisville. They also asked the public to be on the lookout for a 12-year-old girl who had been reported missing by her parents and was later found unharmed with the 15-year-old. She has not been charged.
