Montgomery Pastor Receives Death Threats Over Race

The city of Montgomery is known as the birthplace of the civil rights movement, but one Montgomery pastor and activist says many people are still holding on to the hate.

Pastor Ed Nettles of Freewill Missionary Baptist Church says he began receiving death threats a year ago from people who condemned him for supporting white city leaders.
He supported Dr. Lori White when she ran for Montgomery County School Board district seat 7, a seat held by Beverly Ross, a black woman.
Most recently he supported new Montgomery Police Chief Kevin Murphy, who was sworn in on Tuesday and is someone who isn't black.
"I think it shows the real need for people's hearts to be changed when I, as an African-American male, cannot have an opinion that doesn't line up with some of those radical's opinions that I would be condemned to death," said Pastor Nettles.
Nettles says he will continue to voice his opinions and the threats won't have any affect on his actions.
